In fact, it’s safe to say that gourmet dark chocolate is healthier than most other chocolate candy. This is because dark usually has at least 70% cocoa, and some even have larger percentages. Other or everyday chocolate candy only contains about 20%; or most less than that.
In studies, it has been proven that cocoa also works to keep you healthy; by working to prevent blood clots. For those who regularly consume chocolate, have a better chance of not being stricken. The same thing goes for gourmet dark chocolate. Since over half of the ingredients contain cocoa, it also decreases a person’s chances of developing blood clots.
Dark chocolate is also known to help prevent or to help reduce bad cholesterol levels. Research has shown that cocoa butter, (or chocolate) does not raise blood cholesterol levels, but can work to reduce LDL cholesterol. But when eating dark chocolate, it should be done in moderation. More is not always better for you. As with all candies there is the fat and sugar to keep in mind.
So when you think about eating any creamy, rich, chocolate again, think about these benefits and then you’ll know that dark gourmet chocolate is a good and healthy choice.
