Many women and men describe their desire for chocolates as a craving. Do you have chocolate cravings? Most people do! Chocolate is the single most craved food in the United States! Whether it is a gourmet truffle or a bite of a decadent fudge; it is the unbelievable aroma, taste and the creaminess when you place that chocolate morsel into your mouth. Chocolate is a highly satisfying, small “indulgence” that you crave and deserve.
A luscious, sweet mouth watering piece of chocolate will tempt almost anyone. Even just looking at a picture of a delicious sweet treat can turn on pleasure centers in the brain and the cravings!!
Experts doing research about chocolate cravings have determined the following:
*a chemical in chocolate is identical to the chemical the brain manufacturers when a person is infatuated
*chemicals called neurotransmitters (serotonin and endorphins) might affect one’s mood and desire for different types of chocolate
*serotonin helps people feel calm and relaxed, also that serotonin levels are related to premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and that may explain premenstrual cravings for chocolate
*endorphins are the “feel good” neurotransmitters; eating chocolate may increase endorphins and lift your mood; so there is no need to feel guilty about eating chocolate
Chocolate Lovers do crave chocolate, and it is not addictive – so go ahead indulge – eat chocolate – it can keep you calm, relaxed and lift your mood; and it taste good – you can’t say that about broccoli!!
